THE Premier Soccer League (PSL) has imposed heavy sanctions on Dynamos and Hardrock following the abandonment of their Matchday 14 fixture, with both clubs fined and ordered to complete the remaining 14 minutes of the match behind closed doors at a neutral venue.
The disciplinary action follows crowd trouble that forced referee Mhaka Magare to abandon the match in the 76th minute on May 24 at Chahwanda Stadium, with the teams locked at 1-1 after a pitch invasion and violent clashes between rival supporters.
Both clubs have been fined US$10 000 for their roles in the disturbances, although part of Hardrock’s penalty has been suspended.
In addition to the fine, Hardrock has been ordered to play one home league match behind closed doors, submit a revised security management plan within 30 days, and conduct mandatory pre-match security briefings with the Zimbabwe Republic Police before each of its remaining home league fixtures.
Dynamos have also been directed to submit a comprehensive away supporters’ management and marshalling plan to the league within 30 days.
The PSL disciplinary committee further ruled that the remaining 14 minutes of the abandoned fixture will be played behind closed doors at a neutral venue on a date to be announced.
Both clubs will equally share the match-day expenses incurred during the abandoned fixture, as well as the costs of the disciplinary proceedings.
Meanwhile, Hardrock Chief Executive Officer, Mr Kudzanai Hove, has been suspended from all football-related activities for the remainder of the 2026 season and fined US$5 000 after being found guilty of disorderly conduct, pitch invasion and violent behaviour.
