President Mnangagwa to present land offer letters to youths in Mashonaland West

Story by Tamuka Charakupa

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to officially present over 500 land offer letters to young people in Mashonaland West Province on March 20.

This was revealed during a ZANU PF Youth League Inter-District Meeting held in Chinhoyi on Saturday.

Ten youths received their 10 hectare land offer letters with the rest set to receive theirs at a function to be officiated by the President.

“I am very delighted to be receiving this offer letter from the President. This means I am now empowered to produce and employ myself,” a beneficiary, Sibongile Hwata said.

The Mashonaland West Provincial leadership is impressed with the youth empowerment drive.

“The President is proving to the world that he is a man of action. His vision for youth empowerment is beyond any measure. Gone are the days when youths were given fish, the Second Republic is giving us the fishing rods. The Munhumutapa Land and Housing Scheme is going to benefit not just the youths of today but future generations to come,” ZANU PF, Mashonaland West Youth League chairperson, Cde Tapiwa Masenda said.

“I implore you all to utilise the land productively. Please do not engage in drug and substance abuse. This bold empowerment move by the Second Republic dovetails with our inclusivity policy,” the Minister of State for Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Marian Chombo said.

Guest of Honour, ZANU PF Youth League Secretary Honourable Tino Machakaire said the move aims to drive self-empowerment among the youths.

“Our President Cde Mnangagwa is a listening President. He cares for the youths, and he is presiding over the handing over of the offer letters. The Munhumutapa Housing and Land Scheme ensures that no youth is left behind in national development. On top of that, we are pushing to have a youth desk established in each and every government department so that their voices are being heard,” he said.

Meanwhile, Politburo Member and Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr Douglas Mombeshora revealed that the Kadoma Cotton Training Centre has been converted to host at least 150 nursing students to decentralise and facilitate participation of the rural people.
