President Mnangagwa launches National Tree Planting initiative

Pesident Emmerson Mnangagwa has launched the Presidential Legacy Forests programme to mark the national tree planting day commemorated at Dinson Iron and Steel Company in Manhize this Saturday.

The launch of the programme is a follow up to the Maputo declaration on sustainable and integrated management of Miombo woodlands of 2022 which emphasised the need to preserve natural forests for posterity.

The project is part of the Second Republic’s programme to plant 25 million trees by 2030.

On behalf of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Minister of Defence Cde Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri said the country should embrace the project meant to safeguard the environment.

The national forestry policy has a huge buy-in from government stakeholders as they anticipate huge returns from the progressive project.
