Over 32 000 cases of Mpox have been reported across Africa with over 10 million vaccine doses needed to control the outbreak.
According to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Central Africa Region accounts for 90% of all cases.
Africa CDC Director General, Jean Kaseya told reporters Thursday evening that they have received pledges for US$814 million to support the response plan.
He added that the agency has also secured 4.3 million vaccine doses out of the more than 10 million needed to control the outbreak in Rwanda, South Africa, Central Africa Republic and Burundi.
The Africa CDC declared the Mpox outbreak a Public Health Emergency of Continental Security (PHECS) in August this year.
