Simba Bhora completed a perfect 2024 Premier Soccer League season after their captain Walter Musona and coach Tonderai Ndiraya clinched the top honours at the 2024 Premier Soccer League Awards Ceremony held in Harare this Friday.
On a stage set to celebrate football excellence, Walter Musona showed why he is arguably the most valuable player in the league after clinching his second Soccer Star of the Year crown at a colourful ceremony this Friday.
Musona beat the season’s top scorer and Highlanders gunslinger Lynoth Chikuhwa and the most paid player in the League, Khama Billiat to be crowned the King of the season.
Musona who is a regular in the Warriors set-up, completed an excess of 23 goal contributions in the just ended campaign scoring 10 and assisting on more than 13 occasions in the league.
He is now the second player to win two Soccer star of the year accolades with different teams having won it with FC Platinum in 2022, emulating Stanley Ndunduma’s exploits with CAPS United and Black Rhinos.
Speaking to this news crew after their new crowns, Musona and his coach Tonderai Ndiraya attributed their success to the team efforts.
“I am glad to have won this, being a soccer star is not easy it’s a team effort. It’s not easy so I have to keep on working hard on and of the pitch,” said Musona.
“The players are often ignored yet they put the best work. I am proud of the guys and what we achieved. This is a result of collaboration,” noted Ndiraya.
Ndiraya won coach of the year accolade, while Chikuhwa finished as first runner-up and Billiat the 2nd runner up.
Other winners include FC Platinum who were named the most disciplined team, for his record 20 clean sheets Chicken Inn Shots topper Donovan Bernard was crowned goalkeeper of the year.
Khama Billiat was honoured with the fans choice player of the year, with Allan Chapinduka getting the most promising player award and Brighton Chimene claiming the referee of the year crown.
