A ZIMBABWEAN man wanted by United Kingdom authorities in connection with an alleged triple murder appeared before the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.
Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma (45) was arrested on July 10 by the South African Police Service (SAPS), working with Interpol, in the Johannesburg suburb of Kensington, where he was allegedly found in possession of an unlicensed 9mm firearm.
Tshuma first appeared in court on July 13, with the matter postponed to allow authorities to verify his legal status and residential address.
While the firearm case is proceeding in South Africa, Tshuma is also the subject of a provisional extradition request from the United Kingdom.
British authorities want him extradited to face charges linked to the alleged murder of his wife, 42-year-old Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, and their daughters, 15-year-old Natalie and five-year-old Nala.
Tshuma will first answer to the firearm charge in South Africa while extradition proceedings between the South African and UK authorities continue.
The matter was remanded to August 27.
