ZIMBABWE’S Mighty Warriors begin their COSAFA Women’s Championship campaign with a Group stage clash against Eswatini in Polokwane, South Africa, on Thursday.
The Zimbabwe senior women’s national team travelled to South Africa on Monday after several weeks in camp and held their first training session in Polokwane on Wednesday, with morale in the squad described as high.
Vice-captain Christabel Katona said the team is determined to make a strong start to the regional tournament.
“We want to make a fast start to the tournament. We have prepared well, and everyone understands the responsibility of representing the country,” she said.
Zimbabwe face Eswatini at midday before taking on defending champions Zambia in their second group fixture.
The Mighty Warriors are chasing their first COSAFA Women’s Championship title since 2011 and will be aiming to lay down an early marker as they seek regional glory.
