Marathoner Mpofu secures top-10 finish at World Championships

ZIMBABWE’s marathon specialist, Isaac Mpofu, delivered a spirited performance at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, finishing 10th in the men’s marathon.
Mpofu crossed the line in 2 hours 10 minutes 46 seconds, recording his seasonal best in a fiercely contested race. The event was won by Tanzania’s Alphonse Simbu, who was just over a minute ahead of Mpofu.
Meanwhile, in the track events, Zimbabwe’s 400m hurdler, Ashley Kamangira, bowed out in the heats after finishing 37th overall.
