MISS Universe Zimbabwe, Lyshanda Moyas, has returned home from Thailand, where she took part in the 2025 Miss Universe pageant, earning a place in the top 30 out of more than 120 contestants.
Lyshanda captured the hearts of many, and it was not just through her elegant performance in Thailand, but through the confidence, discipline and resilience she displayed throughout the competition.
Her outstanding performance at the Miss Universe 2025 pageant showcased Zimbabwe’s rich culture and heritage, leaving a huge impression at the global beauty showcase.
On arrival from Thailand this Sunday, the beauty queen said she is grateful for the overwhelming support from Zimbabweans.
“I am really appreciative of the opportunity and experience I got. I am now looking forward to working with the next Miss Universe to ensure that next year we bring the crown home,” Moyas said.
Miss Universe Zimbabwe Organisation Board Chairperson Colonel Miniyothabo Baloyi Chiwenga, who also served as one of this year’s Miss Universe judges, acknowledged Lyshanda’s remarkable journey, reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to grooming world-class talent.
“We have tried our best as a board, and there is so much consistency. The first year, we did not place, but we managed to place two times in a row, which shows that we are doing something right, although more can be done. Being the only Black African on the judges’ panel, it wasn’t about me, but it was about representing Africa to have a voice. Being the only one, it wasn’t much, but at least I managed to voice out in the decision-making,” she noted.
Miss Universe Zimbabwe National Director Ms Tendai Hunda said participating in the Miss Universe pageant has been a learning curve.
“This is our third year running, and we have been going in blind, but we are learning, and I am sure that next year we will be able to improve and bring the crown to Zimbabwe and Africa,” she added.
Lyshanda’s performance at the Miss Universe 2025 pageant made Zimbabwe stand tall and earned admiration on the global stage, and her outstanding performance could be a defining moment for the rebirth of Zimbabwean pageantry.
