KUVIMBA Mining House is targeting to produce over 5 000 kilogrammes of gold per year from three mines under its gold cluster comprising Freda Rebecca, Shamva, and Jena mines.
The mining giant is expecting to produce 3 600 kilogrammes of gold this year, with the target being 5 600 kilogrammes in the next three years.
Kuvimba Mining House Chief Executive Officer, Mr Trevor Barnard told the ZBC News Crew that the company’s gold cluster is having a good year so far, supported by firming commodity prices and good production results.
“Currently, we are looking at producing more or less 300 kilogrammes of gold per month. From that perspective, the total production of gold this year will be just above 100 000 ounces.
“We are planning to invest quite a bit of money into the gold cluster next year or two, specifically regarding the exploration that we are doing around all of our mines. We are also planning to upgrade our facilities, and plants, and improve efficiencies at all our mines,” Mr Bernard said.
Commencement of open-cast gold mining at Shamva Gold Mine will be a game changer for Kuvimba Mining House, which is exploring investment options such as self-financing to start the project or engaging external investors.
The project will enable production to surpass 200 000 ounces of gold per year.
