THE Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa School of Nursing in Kadoma is set for official commissioning next week after opening its doors to students for the first time.

The institution, located at Muduvuri Pan African Referral Hospital, admitted its first intake of 20 students on May 4 ahead of its official opening by First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa on Monday.

Students welcomed the development, describing it as a major boost for healthcare training in Zimbabwe.

“We are grateful for the developments taking place at our school. The improved facilities are helping us to learn in a comfortable and professional environment,” student Ms Thelma Chipeza from Banket said.

Another student, Ms Blessing Masukume of Rusape said the institution reflects growing investment in the health sector.

“These developments happening at the Muduvuri Pan African Hospital show that the health sector is being prioritised. We cannot wait for the First Lady to officially open our school,” she said.

School patron Mr Jimayi Muduvuri said preparations for the commissioning ceremony had been completed.

“This institution represents a major investment in the future of healthcare delivery, as it will help train competent and disciplined nurses capable of serving communities across the country,” he said.

Head of the nursing school, Ms Peggy Dube said the institution is focused on producing skilled and ethical healthcare professionals.

“We are focusing not only on academic excellence, but also on producing compassionate, ethical and highly skilled healthcare professionals who will positively impact communities,” she said.

The commissioning comes as Zimbabwe continues scaling up investment in healthcare infrastructure and human capital development to improve service delivery nationwide.
