Indonesia has expressed commitment to deepening ties with the African continent to achieve shared growth.
As leaders converge in Bali for the second edition of the Indonesia-Africa Forum, Vice President Kembo Mohadi, accompanied by Speaker of the National Assembly Advocate Jacob Mudenda, joined other leaders for a dinner hosted by Indonesian President Joko Widodo this Sunday.
The leader of the South-East Asian country said he is honoured to host the forum and expressed commitment to the Bandung Declaration of 1955 which speaks to the promotion of Afro-Asian economic and cultural cooperation and opposes any form of colonialism or neo-colonialism.
Said President Widodo, “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Bali, Indonesia and thank you for your presence here. Indonesia is honoured to host the High-Level Multi-Party Partnership Forum and the Second Indonesia-Africa Forum for Advancing Intensive and Sustainable Global Development. Indonesia remains committed to strengthen cooperation and solidarity with countries in the African region and this will also be continued by the next government. So, on this joyful occasion, allow me to introduce the President-elect of Indonesia, Mr Prabowo Subianto to the forum and will be inaugurated next month and will take Indonesia to the future.”
Leaders from Rwanda, Liberia, Zanzibar, Eswatini and Timor-Leste are also attending the forum where other African nations are also represented.
The High-Level Forum is expected to focus on unlocking sustainable growth, opportunities of digital innovation, nutrition and food security, energy transformation as Indonesia and Africa strive to strengthen collaboration for mutual progress.
