History beckons in the Chibuku Super Cup final this Saturday

THE stage is set for the Chibuku Super Cup final featuring giants Dynamos and ambitious Ngezi Platinum Stars at Rufaro Stadium this Saturday with both teams chasing history.

It is a repeat of last year’s final where the Glamour Boys walked out of Baobab stadium with gold medals and a trophy after a two-nil triumph.

Before lifting the Chibuku Super last year, DeMbare had never walked on the podium as champions, but going into this year’s final they are chasing history as they aim to become the first team to retain the trophy after its reintroduction.

Last year, Ngezi went into the final as league champions, but this time around they do not have that luxury after conceding the title to Simba Bhora.

Apart from the prize money, the bonus for the winners is a ticket to the CAF Confederation Cup.

Ngezi Platinum Stars who will be playing in a record fifth final, will be seeking to win the tournament for the second time just like Dynamos.

Only Harare City and FC Platinum have won the trophy twice since its reintroduction in 2014.

The match is expected to be a cracker, but fans will not watch midfield talents Donald Mudadi of Dynamos and Ngezi Platinum Marvelous Mukumba who are both suspended.

The tie will put a lid on the 2024 top-flight football season.
