Zimbabwe’s representatives in the CAF Women’s Champions League, Herentals Queens suffered a 2-1 loss to University of Western Cape but still progress to the semi-finals of the COSAFA Qualifiers.
The South African side took a 2-0 lead, but Alice Moyo’s late goal narrowed the deficit for the Zimbabwean side in their final group match at Mpira Stadium in Malawi this Monday.
Going into the match, Herentals Queens had already secured a semi-final berth following Green Buffaloes’ 2-1 loss to FC Ongos Ladies.
Herentals Queens top Group A with six points after beating FC Ongos Ladies of Namibia and Green Buffaloes of Zambia in their first two group matches.
The Harare-based side will however learn about their semi-final opponents this Tuesday when matches in Group B of the COSAFA qualifiers conclude.
