THE government has reported significant progress in infrastructure projects being implemented under the ongoing 100-day cycle programme, with the Trabablas Interchange emerging as one of the flagship developments.

This was revealed by the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr Jenfan Muswere, during the Post-Cabinet Media Briefing held on Tuesday.

“In terms of the Infrastructure Development Thematic Area of the National Development Strategy 1, the Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare highlighted the following achievements under his purview,” said Dr Muswere.

He noted the completion of rehabilitation works at the Dzivarasekwa Pump Station, including the pumping and gravity mains and treated water reservoir repairs, in Harare Metropolitan Province.

The disposal of 94 residential stands in Glaudina and 12 in Borrowdale, also in Harare, is currently underway. Additionally, final finishings and external works for Phase 1 of the Glaudina Flats Project are nearing completion, with commissioning anticipated by the end of May 2025.

Preparations for servicing 616 residential stands in Runyararo, Masvingo Province, have been finalised, while site works for 124 residential stands under the Mathendele Project in Plumtree, Matabeleland South Province, have commenced.

In Zvishavane, Midlands Province, Phase 2 of the Zvishavane Mixed Accommodation Project is progressing well, with 156 residential units ready for commissioning. Meanwhile, the Zim Hydro-Power Project at Lake Mutirikwi in Masvingo Province has been completed and awaits commissioning.

Under the Infrastructure and Utilities Pillar of the National Development Strategy 1, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development reported further milestones.

“Construction of the Trabablas Interchange has exceeded its cycle target and is ongoing. Two bridges at Amalinda Road and the Harare Drive missing link have already been completed and opened to traffic,” Dr Muswere stated.

He added that the upgrading of the Harare–Masvingo–Beitbridge Road and the Harare–Kanyemba Road continues, with progress on schedule. The construction of the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe offices in Masvingo Province is on target, as is the upgrading of the Chipinge–Mt Selinda Road and the fencing of the Shurugwi–Mhandamambwe Road.

These developments represent ongoing Government efforts to improve infrastructure nationwide and stimulate economic growth in line with Vision 2030.
