CAPS United president, Farai Jere believes his team will rise to the occasion when they face Highlanders in the first edition of the Battle of the Cities slated for Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.
The Battle of the Cities looms with the two main actors Highlanders and CAPS United not at their imperious best.
Makepekepe are in the bottom three with a mere four points from five matches, Bosso are not much better either as they have six points ahead of the eagerly anticipated match.
CAPS United go into the match with their back against the wall after a mini-protest by their fans after the defeat to Ngezi Platinum Stars last Sunday, but club president Jere believes their time is now.
“This is the time when you will see the true CAPS United starting with the Highlanders match, yes we have not started well but we will rise in matches like these and I believe that will spur us onto good things, we have one of the best squads and we are still holding onto our targets,” Jere said.
Makepekepe faithfuls voiced their concerns on Sunday after the team fell to a third defeat in five matches and the club president commended them for their conduct.
“I commend the supporters for their behaviour they voiced their concerns in a peaceful manner and that’s very commendable, Sport is about passion they are concerned, I am equally concerned as well but I assure them that better days are coming we acquired some of the best players in the land and it’s only a matter of time before we reap the rewards,” Jere said.
The two teams won a match each last season, with Bosso winning the first leg 2-nil at home, while the Green Machine came from behind to edge Highlanders 3-2 in the reverse encounter played at Rufaro Stadium.
