Government is scaling up grain distribution for food insecure families affected by the El Nino-induced drought under in the second phase of Food Deficit and Mitigation Strategy and Urban Transfer Programme.
During a post cabinet media briefing held in Harare this Tuesday, the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr Jenfan Muswere noted progress achieved in cushioning vulnerable families
According to government, a further 3400 metric tonnes of grain has been collected across all provinces under the Zunde Ramambo/Isiphala Senkosi Strategic Grain Reserve Distribution Programme.
Other key highlights of the cabinet meeting centred on a lucrative venture in the mining sector with a proposed partnership between Mining Promotion Corporation and Prospect Brooke Resources to explore lithium and pegmatite minerals.
In terms of the agreement, a special purpose vehicle will be established in which Prospect Brooke will hold 70 percent shareholding and the Mining Promotion Corporation will hold 30 percent.
Within the context of the investment, government also updated the country’s preparedness ahead of the Osaka Expo to be held in Japan next year
Back home, dates for the country’s premier exhibition fair, the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show have been announced with the show running from the 26th to the 31st of August.
