GOVERNMENT has intensified efforts to accelerate Zimbabwe’s digital transformation and industrialisation agenda after signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Liquid Intelligent Technologies aimed at strengthening digital skills development and innovation.
The partnership is expected to establish a robust and sustainable educational and skills development framework aligned with industry demands and the evolving digital economy.
The agreement will also facilitate the establishment of innovation hubs for practical training in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies, as Government scales up efforts to position Zimbabwe within the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
“The signing of the MoU is about ensuring that we create a robust, sustainable educational and skills development programme tied to industry needs. The programme will focus primarily on artificial intelligence, cloud computing, digital analytics, and other areas related to the digital economy in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” Minister of Skills Audit and Development, Honourable Jenfan Muswere said.
“A particular focus is ensuring that Africa does not remain only a consumer of digital technologies and developments, but becomes an active participant and contributor, innovating, inventing, and participating in the ecosystem as creators, not just consumers,” he added.
The agreement will also see the two parties collaborating in training programmes focused on artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and digital analytics.
The signing ceremony comes at a time when the government is prioritising education sector development, as well as innovation as a tool for industrialisation.
