Story by Bruce Chahwanda, Political Editor
Visiting FRELIMO Presidential candidate Cde Danie Francisco Chapo has been impressed by the Museum of African Liberation in Warren Park, Harare after touring the facility this Friday.
Briefing journalists after the tour, Cde Daniel Francisco Chapo said the institution is in line with the African agenda to depict the story of the liberation struggle from the correct perspective.
“Our leaders have many fighters such that we get our liberation. This monument is important because we have many generations to come and it’s important to tell our story. It is a good and huge project which is being implemented under Public-Private Partnerships,” he said.
Cde Chapo noted that after political independence, economic liberation has become imperative.
“We have political freedom where we live in unity, but it is critical to keep fighting for the attainment of economic freedom. Our challenge is economic freedom, economic liberation hence the need for new generations to fight for that to complete the puzzle,” he said.
The establishment of the Museum of African Liberation is set to give each country on the continent space to tell its own liberation story and history.
