Falcon, ZDF Queens dominate as PNL season kicks off

THE Zimbabwe Premier Netball League (PNL) roared into action this weekend with thrilling encounters across different cities, marking the official start of the 2025 season.

At White City Stadium, the much-anticipated battle of the uniformed forces saw Falcon emerge victorious, overpowering Imbizo 42-31 before crushing Rhinos 61-30.

Imbizo salvaged some pride with a commanding 56-30 win over Tongogara, while Rhinos secured a 53-23 triumph over the same opponents

In Mutare, ZDF Queens player Thandekile Mahlangu was named player of the bubble after leading ZDF Queens to a goal harvest, which saw them thrash Mutasa Queens 117-10.

The Queens also ran amok beating Bikita Minerals 81-21 before winding their fairytale campaign with a 106-10 victory over Buffaloes.

In the capital, Platinum Stars Spiwe Dlamini was named the best player of the bubble despite her team failing to win.

Platinum stars got a 69-21 thorough hiding from Harare City before coming close to the contest against HD.

Platinum Stars lost 48-44 to HD.

PNL Committee Member Tonderai Magaya is predicting an explosive season in the 18-team league.

“We are here for our first bubble. Four teams are in Bulawayo, and we are happy to note that we have other bubbles across different cities and towns. This marks the beginning of our league, and we expect fireworks for this season in the 18-team league,” he said.

ZDF are the defending champions of the PNL
