Family, friends and colleagues have described national Hero, Colonel (Retired) Tshinga Dube as a unifier, liberation stalwart and man of the people.
Thousands of people converged at the national shrine to pay their last respects to National Hero Colonel (Retired) Tshinga Dube whose contribution to the country’s liberation struggle and economic development has been described as phenomenal.
Family representative Mrs Zwile Mabhena said the late National Hero was a family man and unifier whose love for football and community development was immeasurable.
“In Makokoba Constituency where he carried his political business, he was eager to see the development of communities and embarked on various developmental projects in Bulawayo. We would continue to take his legacy forward,” she said.
ZANU PF Politburo Member Cde Elifasi Mashaba described the late as a firm nationalist.
“Colonel Dube was a nationalist par excellence and a firm person whose contribution to the development of Zimbabwe will be cherished forever,” said Cde Mashaba.
Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Dr Omphile Marupi extolled him as a selfless cadre who dedicated his life to the development of the country.
“He was a man who would encourage young people to embrace land reform and disregard the love for money but to focus on developing Zimbabwe. He was a father figure to all of us and his teachings have lasting impressions on most of us,” noted Dr Marupi.
National Railways of Zimbabwe Board Chairperson Advocate Mike Madiro narrated how he worked Colonel (Rtd) Dube at NRZ.
“We were together at the board of NRZ, despite his age, he would interrogate issues to enable the transformation of the state enterprise. He was outstanding in his work execution of duties.
Cde Charles Chiponda described the late national hero as a straightforward individual whose dedication to duty was unmatched.
“He was a man of the people and the people loved him very in Bulawayo where he made immense contributions through sport, arts and culture,” said Cde Charles Chiponda.
The former Member of Parliament for Makokoba was a National Railways of Zimbabwe board member at the time of his death.
Colonel (Retired) Dube is survived by wife Nomathemba Wendy Dube, several children and grandchildren.
