FAMILIES and shoppers at Westgate Mall were treated to an evening of festive music on Friday as Old Mutual Investment Group hosted a carols and choir event, bringing the community together to celebrate the Christmas season.

The event featured a performance by the Unveiled Choir, whose renditions of traditional and contemporary carols filled the mall with warmth, encouraging attendees to sing along and reflect on the deeper meaning of the holiday season.

Orion Nyasha Mtima, a founding member of the choir, said the performances aimed to foster a sense of unity and hope, while highlighting the story of Jesus’ birth.

“When we sing Christmas carols, we hope people feel the love and joy of the season and experience the unity that comes from being with family and friends. Christmas still tells the story of Jesus’ birth, showing God’s power and love and reminding us that he can do anything for us, providing hope, healing, and abundant life,” she said.

Old Mutual is bringing the holiday spirit to life at Westgate Mall. Stephen Kapfunde, Old Mutual Properties General Manager, said the initiative was both a celebration of the holiday season and a way to showcase recent expansions at the mall.

“We are enjoying the festive season. This event is our way of appreciating our clients and the people who support us. We are giving back to those who continue to support us. While showcasing all the exciting changes at the mall,” he said.

The event drew people of all ages, creating an atmosphere of shared joy and community togetherness. Attendees said the combination of music and communal celebration made for a memorable holiday experience.

Tary Kwinjo, who attended with her family, said: “The choir has been amazing, singing gospel and Christmas songs. It’s brought us closer together and created wonderful memories for all of us.”

As the evening concluded, shoppers and families departed with hearts warmed by the festive spirit, reflecting the event’s success in fostering unity and spreading holiday cheer across the community.
