PROCEEDS from the Communal Areas Management Programme for Indigenous Resources (CAMPFIRE) are strengthening education in Hwange District, with more than US$40 000 invested in schools over the past year.
The funding has been used to procure classroom furniture, tablets, printers, smartphones and laptops, improving learning conditions and expanding access to digital education.
The latest beneficiaries include Ndimakule, Chikandakubi and Dinde primary schools, Nejambezi Secondary School and several other learning institutions across the district.
ZBC News witnessed the handover of some of the equipment at Ndimakule Primary School under Chief Shana, where learners, school authorities and district officials hailed the initiative as a significant boost to education.
Beneficiaries said the investment is improving access to digital learning resources, enhancing research and making teaching and learning more effective.
The initiative also demonstrates how community-based conservation programmes are contributing to social development, with CAMPFIRE revenue being channelled towards improving education and other essential services in rural communities.
