The Zimbabwe senior cricket team, the Chevrons, are seeking a change of fortunes when they face Afghanistan in a one-off test match, starting on Boxing Day.
Smarting from back to back series defeats in T20s and One Day Internationals, the Chevrons have no time to rest as they shift focus to the test arena.
Zimbabwe lost the T20s 2-1 before being whitewashed two-nil in the ODIs.
Despite a wretched recent record, the Chevrons believe they have what it takes to bounce back.
“We have to find a way, whether it’s one day to bounce back, we have to do it, whether it’s one day or two days to find a way of turning around, we have to do it because this is the pressure of international cricket, coach Justin Sammons said.
Zimbabwe have included seven uncapped players in their historic first ever Boxing Day test match.
The uncapped players are opening batter Ben Curran, middle-order batter Johnathan Campbell, wicketkeeper-batters Tadiwanashe Marumani and Nyasha Mayavo, as well as pace bowlers Trevor Gwandu, Takudzwa Chataira and Newman Nyamhuri.
