AN armed robbery gang pounced on a local bank in Bulawayo this Thursday, making off with a staggering sum of US$4 million.
The gang of six robbers pounded on unsuspecting Safeguard Security guards.
Witnesses described a tense atmosphere as an estimated six robbers made their get-away.
Zimbabwe Republic Police National Spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the money heist.
“We can confirm that an armed robbery took place at a financial institution in Bulawayo and our police officers are on the ground tracking down the suspects,” he said.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has launched a full-scale investigation into the incident and are appealing for any information from the public.
