LAWYER and conservationist, Advocate Ever Chinoda, has raised the Zimbabwean flag high after winning the Women in Conservation Award at the Animal Action Awards Ceremony held in the United Kingdom Thursday night.
It was a prestigious moment for Zimbabwe in London when Advocate Chinoda was recognised for her efforts in animal conservation.
The founder and director of Speak Out For Animals, established in 2017, won the Women in Conservation Award after investing years and her energy in animal conservation advocacy.
“I am grateful for this Award as it is an affirmation that the work I do is important. I want to thank the Government if Zimbabwe for the support from the Ministry of Environmental, Justice, and Education, as these are the three ministries I work with. I would also like to thank key stakeholders, NPA, JSC, FC, ZRP, Zimparks, and EMA, for their ongoing support and the MOU over the years. Without collaboration with these agencies, these small victories would not have been possible.
“All these accomplishments over the past eight years have built momentum and contributed to this global recognition. Zimbabwe is committed to wildlife conservation and has been successful in protecting its fauna. I am honoured to contribute my legal expertise to these conservation efforts and bring the award home,” she said.
Advocate Chinoda is credited for spearheading the introduction of wildlife law at Great Zimbabwe University’s Herbert Chitepo Law School and developing a diploma in wildlife law and policy.
Her award also highlights Zimbabwe’s commitment to wildlife protection and the development of legal frameworks that safeguard the country’s natural heritage for future generations.
