ZIMBABWE and Italy are seeking to strengthen bilateral cooperation, with discussions centred on infrastructure development, trade and cultural exchanges during a meeting between Vice President Colonel (Rtd) Dr Kembo Mohadi and Italy’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Giuseppe Giacalone, in Harare.
The Italian envoy paid a courtesy call on Vice President Mohadi at the Munhumutapa Offices, where the two sides explored opportunities to deepen relations between the two countries.
Speaking after the meeting, Ambassador Giacalone said the discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in key sectors, including infrastructure development, trade and culture.
The envoy also highlighted Zimbabwe’s participation at the ongoing Venice Biennale in Venice, where five Zimbabwean artists are exhibiting their works.
Zimbabwe’s pavilion at the international arts showcase is running under the theme, “Second Nature Manyonga”, which reflects on neuroplasticity and the human brain’s ability to reorganise itself in the face of technology and crisis.
Ambassador Giacalone further noted that Zimbabwe will host the CIMAM Annual Conference from November 20 to 22 this year through the National Gallery of Zimbabwe.
The conference is expected to bring together leading museum and modern art professionals from across the world, further positioning Zimbabwe as a growing centre for cultural diplomacy and international artistic engagement.
