SHEFFIELD Wednesday have been officially relegated from the English Championship to League One, becoming the fastest team in football history to drop down with 13 full rounds of matches still remaining.
Relegation was confirmed following a 2–1 defeat to Sheffield United this Sunday.
The club sits on minus seven points, after starting the season with an 18-point deduction, compounded by financial sanctions that prevented them from operating in the transfer market.
Wednesday managed just one win and eight draws in 33 matches, sealing their fate well before the end of the campaign.
The club is home to Warriors captain Marvellous Nakamba, who joined midseason and defender Sean Fusire.
