ZIMBABWE’S senior national cricket team, the Chevrons, are determined to maintain momentum when they face Sri Lanka in their final group match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on Thursday.
Although Zimbabwe have already secured qualification to the Super Eight stage with a game to spare, the squad insists there will be no complacency as they seek to complete a productive group campaign on a high.
Captain Sikandar Raza said the focus remains firmly on delivering another disciplined and intense performance.
“Our goal was not just to qualify for the Super Eight, but to bring respect back to Zimbabwe cricket. We are in the process of doing that. Qualification is important, but all our focus right now is on Sri Lanka,” Raza said.
The Chevrons view the encounter as another opportunity to test their consistency against established opposition, with sustained performances seen as critical to rebuilding confidence within the squad and among supporters back home.
Thursday’s clash is expected to provide a stern examination as Zimbabwe aim to carry winning momentum into the Super Eight phase and reinforce their resurgence on the global stage.
