ZIMBABWE secured a bronze medal at the 2025 Africa Netball Cup after defeating hosts Malawi Queens 48-44 in the third-place play-off at the Griffins Saenda Sports Complex in Lilongwe on Sunday.

The Gems delivered a composed and commanding display, taking early control of the contest and maintaining their dominance despite sustained pressure from a vocal home crowd.

It was a close game with Zimbabwe leading by not more than three points for a large part of the game until they were able to pull away in the final stretch.

The Zimbabwe Gems made it back-to-back bronze medals at the African Championship, and on both occasions, they outwitted Malawi.

21-year-old shooter, Thandazile Ndhlovu, was once again instrumental and was named Player of the Match following another standout display.

This was the second time in the tournament that the rising star had been the most valuable player in a match, underlining her dominance.
