RISING star Brian Bennett produced a career-defining knock at Harare Sports Club on Tuesday, scoring his maiden T20 international century to propel Zimbabwe’s Chevrons to a commanding 113-run victory over Tanzania in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier.

The 21-year-old joins captain Sikander and former captain Brendan Taylor as the only Zimbabwean batsmen with a century in every format of the game.

Bennett’s 111 from 60 balls also makes him the youngest cricketer to score a century in all formats, achieving this in one year.

The right-hander’s blitz also ensured the Chevrons posted a convincing 221/5 against Tanzania this Tuesday.

Bennett also shared a century partnership with fellow opener Tadiwanashe Marumani, who scored 49 runs before he was dismissed.

In defence of their total, Brad Evans shone with the ball, grabbing 4 wickets for 16 runs, while Richard Ngarava and Sikander Raza also had two wickets apiece.

Zimbabwe will face Nigeria in the semi-finals on Thursday.

A win for Zimbabwe over the West Africans will see the Chevrons progress to the 2026 T20 World Cup set for India and Sri Lanka.
