THE government has dismissed social media characters who are pushing for nationwide demonstrations on March 31, saying law enforcement agents are ready to thwart such rogue elements.

Government spokesperson, who is also the Minister of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr Jenfan Muswere says Zimbabweans should ignore utterances by Blessed Geza who was recently expelled from the ruling ZANU PF party for his unbecoming behaviour.

“We have witnessed some hallucinations by some members of the public and in particular one Zimbabwean going by the name Geza,” Dr Muswere said.

“Let it be put on record that this country is a safe haven. I am speaking to you now as the official government spokesperson that, come Monday, it shall be business as usual.

“All schools shall be open, and all businesses shall be open. We can not be held at ransom by some cybersecurity bullies. We are in the process of crafting legal instruments to deal with cyberbullying. This shall come to an end as we seek to put an end to stupid acts by such kind of individuals.”

Dr Muswere says law enforcement agencies will be on the lookout to deal with any rogue elements who might seek to disturb the peace and tranquility prevailing in the country.

“I want to categorically make it clear that we have an active security apparatus on the ground. We have cyber bullies who think they are above the law. However, as a government, we have systems that are meant to make sure that we maintain peace and order all the time.

“Come Monday, all those who think they are above the law will be dealt with. We have systems in place, and as government, we can not let lawlessness take the lead. Those who will try to make funny moves should be reminded that Zimbabwe is not a haven for lawlessness. We are on top of the situation,” he said.

The country is battling a cyber terrorism warfare from its detractors at a time the Second Republic has set the tone for unprecedented national development as the country gravitates towards the attainment of an upper-middle-income society by 2030.
