THE Inter-regional Meeting of Bishops of Southern Africa (IMBISA) has kicked off its Golden Jubilee Celebration Mass at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Harare.
The momentous occasion has drawn notable attendees, including Vice President General (Retired) Dr Constantino Chiwenga, Speaker of Parliament, Advocate Jacob Mudenda and Catholic bishops from the region.
IMBISA’s Golden Jubilee marks a significant milestone, celebrating 50 years of fostering unity and solidarity among its member countries since its inception in 1975.
The organisation comprises bishops from nine Southern African nations, including Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, São Tomé and Príncipe, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.
The theme of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, “IMBISA Golden Jubilee: A synodal journey, nourished by compassion and blossoming in faith as pilgrims of hope,” reflects the organisation’s commitment to promoting compassion, faith, and hope in the region.
