Government has implored the Lotteries and Gaming Board to critically analyse the growing appetite to invest in the industry and ensure responsible gaming practices.

At a time when the gaming industry which covers casinos, sports betting, raffles and lotteries is thriving, government has drawn attention to enhancing compliance with the industry’s governing regulatory framework.

This came out at the official opening of the Lotteries and Gaming Board Strategic planning workshop in Masvingo this Wednesday.

“I call upon the board to intensify your strategies that enhance compliance with the gaming industry’s governing regulatory framework. The strategies must ensure adherence and compliance by all operators in the industry. The growing appetite to invest in the gaming industry must be controlled and balanced with the growth of revenue collection, protection from gambling harm and social responsibility,” Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Honourable Chido Sanyatwe said.

Lotteries and Gaming Board Interim Secretary Dr Misheck Chingozha said they are prioritising strategies that enhance responsible gaming practices.

“We continue striving to ensure improved service delivery and satisfaction for our clients. Again let me highlight that strategies that enhance responsible gaming practices remain top of this workshop agenda.”

Notable achievements by the Lotteries and Gaming Board include construction of Harava Waiting Mother’s Shelter and ancillary facilities in Zaka.

They have also contributed towards an interpretive centre at Kamungoma National Monument in Gutu.
