MORE than 130 beauty queens from across the globe will battle it out for the coveted Miss Universe crown in Mexico this Saturday.

After months of preparation, Zimbabwean beauty queen Sakhile Dube is among the 130 contestants vying for the Miss Universe crown.

The wait is almost over with reigning Miss Universe queen Sheyniss Palacios of Nicaragua expected to hand over the crown to a new queen in Mexico.

As part of efforts to support the ravishing Zimbabwean queen, who has been showing off her beauty at the pre-shows, a Zimbabwean delegation comprised of Miss Universe Zimbabwe management and board members, including Mrs Miniyothabo Chiwenga, has arrived in Dubai en route to Mexico ahead of the preliminaries this Thursday and the final show set for Saturday night.

Sakhile is attracting attention at the pageant already, with pageantry aficionados placing her among the top contenders of the competition.

As a build-up to the final show slated for Saturday, the preliminary and national costume show will be held this Thursday, where Sakhile is expected to showcase the beauty and diversity of the Zimbabwean culture through a customised outfit.

For now, Zimbabweans are expected to continue voting for the country’s queen at the Miss Universe online voting platform, which is currently open to the public.

All nations wait in anticipation for their contestant to bring the crown home.
