Lady Chevrons whitewash Papua New Guinea

ZIMBABWE National women’s cricket team, the Lady Chevrons completed a series whitewash over Papua New Guinea after winning the third and final One Day International by 35 runs at Harare Sports Club this Thursday.

Zimbabwe went into the match seeking a statement victory, having already won the series after claiming the first two matches.

The Lady Chevrons duly managed to get that victory for a series whitewash on the ODIs heading into the T20 matches.

The home side batted first and managed a below-par 184 runs in 46 overs with fit again Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano top-scoring with 52, while teenage sensation Kelis Ndhlovu contributed 34 runs to the cause.

In defence of the total star all-rounder, Josephine Nkomo, who was the captain of the day took two early wickets to get the home side up and running again.

The visitors then stuttered to 149 with Nkomo taking another wicket while left-hander Nomvelo Sibanda grabbed two wickets.

The two sides now shift focus to the T20s that start this Saturday.
