Story by Josephine Mugiyo in Dubai

President Emmerson Mnangagwa says his government is investing in sustainable economic growth through its infrastructural investment programme, investments in productive sectors and nurturing private sector-led economic growth.

The Head of State, who will have his keynote address this Tuesday at the ongoing World Governments Summit, noted how the period between 2021 and 2023 saw Zimbabwe experience a strong economic growth rate averaging 6.8%.

As he told Zimbabwe’s story of resilience in the global stage, President Mnangagwa said the country remains emboldened by the hurdles it has overcome in the past 23 years of sanctions.

He highlighted the strides Zimbabwe has taken towards food security which include dam construction and increasing land under irrigation as well.

President Mnangagwa also outlined the deliberate policies by the government to upscale value addition and beneficiation in the mining sector.

The World Governments Summit provides a platform for the leaders to discuss governance issues as well as policies that can be put in place to improve the livelihoods of the general population.
