AFRO-SOUL musician Bryan K is breaking new ground and showing his versatility after turning to gospel music where he is doing well with his new album titled “Just as I am.”
With a career spanning 12 years since his debut on the talent search show, StarBrite, Brian K has mesmerised many through his musical prowess.
“I’m from Chinhoyi, a small town and grew up loving music, what got me into music was the stigma that musicians die poor, so I said to myself I’m going to go into this and do it right. I’m not perfect but I pray for the Lord’s wisdom to navigate through this industry so that I can be a role model to upcoming artists,” he said.
The young crooner has now shifted focus to gospel music after releasing a new album titled, “Just as I am.”
He added, “The album is called Just as I am, it didn’t start purely as a gospel album as I was working on it. I wanted to call it Love, Life and the Gospel. I wanted it to sum up all aspects of life and also do gospel songs. As I was working on it, the Lord kept giving me gospel songs.”
The artist is also convinced that he has made the right move, and his fans should expect more.
“It’s been difficult and tricky as people see things in different ways. I have had people who have been my fans for years who say since you are now doing gospel how do we listen to you? You also have people who are already in church who then ask if I’m not in gospel for the money. I had to learn to accept that it wasn’t about either side, it was about knowing that I’m doing the lord’s work through music. A lot of the time as musicians we take advantage of the responsibility we have, I still want to be able to make music that inspires people and brings them closer to God, that’s what I want to achieve,” he said.
Bryan K’s new gospel album has amassed more than 12 thousand views on YouTube in three days, with the song “Deep Inside Me” making waves on the gospel charts.
