HARARE – DELTA Force Boxing and MMA Academy have launched a boxing tournament dubbed “Beat Down’ where 12 bouts, including three title fights, will take place at the Country Club on August 23 in Harare.
Delta Force Boxing and MMA Academy’s Business Development Director, Mr Walter Marara, described the event as a pivotal moment for the local boxing scene.
“This tournament is a significant step in promoting competitive boxing in Zimbabwe. We are excited to partner with local and international stakeholders to make this event a success and take Zimbabwean boxing to new heights.”
The director of Delta Force Boxing and MMA Academy, Mr Clyde Musonda, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the platform the event would offer local talent.
“We are thrilled to launch the ‘Beat Down’ tournament, which promises to be a game-changer for Zimbabwean boxing. Our aim is to provide a platform for local boxers to shine and gain international exposure,” Deltaforce Boxing and MMA Academy Director Clyde Musonda added.
The main bout will see Kudakwashe “Take Money” Chiwandire take on Sharadene Fortuin of South Africa for the ABU SADC Bantamweight Title.
Other title fights include the Zimbabwe National Super Middleweight Title between Farai Makombe and Clever Sithole and the Zimbabwe National Super Bantamweight Title between Hilary Josamu and Alfonso Zvenyika.
With nine international supporting bouts featuring boxers from 11 countries, the “Beat Down” tournament is expected to be a premier boxing event in Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe pugilists will compete against boxers from South Africa, Cameroon, Togo, Namibia, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Tanzania, Mauritius and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
