MASHONALAND East province is confident it will make a significant contribution towards the National Housing delivery programme with over 30 000 residential stands expected to be serviced under Manyame Rural District Council.

The Mashonaland East Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Itayi Ndudzo toured the two housing projects in Manyame RDC this Wednesday, and he expressed the government’s commitment to the national housing target of one million units by 2023.

“As a province, we are confident of making a big contribution towards the national delivery programme and we appreciate what private developers are doing,” Advocate Ndudzo said.

Manyame RDC has a huge housing backlog, hence the importance of the two housing projects meant to benefit up to 30 000 home-seekers.

“As a local authority we have a big waiting list and we are confident this will make a significant contribution,” Manyame RDC CEO, Dr Farirayi Guta said.

Land developers say they are ready to make a mark towards housing development.

“We want to develop close to 11 000 stands here so that we contribute towards attainment of vision 2030,” Leengate Land Developers representative, Engineer Bhunu said.

“We have mixed type of stands which include high density medium and low density,” Pinacle Holdings CEO, Marshal Jonga added.

Servicing of the residential stands including tarring of roads has already started.
