The Zimbabwe women’s national cricket team, the Lady Chevrons, are ready to face the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the Capricorn Eagles Tri-Series at the Wanderers Cricket Ground in Windhoek, Namibia, this Saturday.

The encounter between the Lady Chevrons and the United Arab Emirates is a rematch of the two teams’ previous clash in the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers in April where Zimbabwe emerged victorious by eight wickets.

The Lady Chevrons will be looking to build on that momentum, despite a mixed record in their last five games, with one win, one draw and three losses.

In contrast, the UAE has struggled, with only one win and four losses in their last five outings.

The Lady Chevrons are however not expected to underestimate their opponents, knowing that the UAE can be a formidable force on their day.

Zimbabwe will be without captain Mary-Anne Musonda, Shame Mayers, and Nomvelo Sibanda, who have been omitted for youth in the tournament.

The 15-member squad features a mix of experienced players and uncapped talent such as Chipo Moyo, Passionate Monorwei, Tawananyasha Marumani, Lorraine Pemhiwa and Runyararo Pasipanodya.

After facing the UAE, the Lady Chevrons will face hosts Namibia on Sunday, in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.

The tournament will run until the 14th of September and Zimbabwe will be looking to make a strong impression in the Tri-Series.
