CHEVRONS captain Sikandar Raza says Zimbabwe will remain focused on the task ahead as they push for progression at the ICC T20 World Cup following a strong win over Australia.
Zimbabwe’s victory over the former world champions has lifted the Chevrons to second place in Group B on four points, level with leaders Sri Lanka, separated only by net run rate.
Attention now shifts to Tuesdays encounter against Ireland, where a win would almost certainly secure a place in the Super Eight stage of the competition.
“While we still have a chance, there is no need to change anything. We just need to stick to the same processes, because we know where we stand and its a good position to be in. For us, it is about taking it one game at a time,” Chevrons captain, Sikandar Raza said.
Despite the positive momentum, injury concerns continue to hover over the Zimbabwe camp.
Ben Curran has flown in as a replacement for the injured Brendan Taylor, while Raza picked up a knock during the Australia match.
Richard Ngarava was rested as a precaution, and Graeme Cremer is nursing a minor issue.
“We currently have about 30 available players in the squad. Creamer has a slight split webbing, but it is nothing serious. Zimbabwe Cricket is already looking at possible replacements, and were confident they will be available for the next game,” Raza said.
The Chevrons now prepare for a crucial battle against Ireland, balancing confidence with caution as qualification comes firmly into sight.
