ALL is set for council by-elections to be held in Chikomba, Chiredzi, and Marondera this Saturday.
Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) Deputy Chairperson, Ambassador Rodney Kiwa, briefed the media in Harare on the eve of the elections.
The by-elections come as a result of recalls by sponsoring parties and deaths. All material and human resources are in place for tomorrow’s by-elections. A budget of ZiG$9 million has been availed for the smooth voting process in the three wards of Chikomba, Marondera, and Chiredzi.
The contesting candidates are Muchenje Tawanda (Independent), Mukandi Tafadzwa (ZANU-PF) for Chikomba RDC Ward 10. Chiredzi Ward’s four candidates are Phillies Austin (ZANU-PF) and Macheke Joseph (Independent).
For Marondera, the candidates are: Tongawashe Fion (ZANU-PF) and Zinyenge Richard (Independent). The polling stations are as follows: Ward 10, Chikomba has 4 polling stations, Ward 4, Chiredzi has 6 polling stations, and Ward 6, Marondera has 7 polling stations.
