ZBC secures World Cup broadcast rights for 2026 tournament

THE Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) has entered into a strategic partnership with Ecobank and Innbucks for the broadcast of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which kicks off on the 11th of this month in Canada, Mexico, and the United States of America.

In a statement, ZBC Chief Executive Officer Mr Sugar Chagonda said the acquisition of the World Cup broadcasting rights is a major milestone for the national broadcaster as it continues to fulfil its mandate of providing quality, accessible, and relevant content to all Zimbabweans.

He said football remains one of the most popular sporting disciplines in the country, adding that the FIFA World Cup presents a unique opportunity to unite families, communities, and fans through the power of television.

Mr Chagonda also expressed appreciation to Ecobank and Innbucks for joining the partnership, saying their involvement goes beyond a commercial arrangement and represents an investment in national unity, entertainment, and shared experiences for millions of Zimbabweans.
