Young Women for ED rally behind constitutional amendment

THE Young Women for Economic Development(Young Women 4ED) is in full support of the Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill, describing the proposed amendments as vital for policy consistency and national development.

As the proposed Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill of 2026 gains traction, a women’s empowerment initiative, Young Women for ED, is the latest group to declare its full support.

National founding person, Honourable Tatenda Mavetera, highlighted that the proposed amendments speak to the Second Republic’s developmental trajectory.

“We, as the young women for ED, fully endorse the Constitution Amendment Number 3 Bill. This amendment is about continuity; it ensures that the development trajectory set by the president is not disrupted but consolidated. We want to see Vision 2030 through, and the president needs adequate time to finish the job he has started.

The group’s provincial chairpersons also weighed in, outlining the Second Republic’s signature projects.

“We have witnessed the amazing transformation of our interchange, the Trabablas, our international airport has been recently modernised and refurbished, and we continue to see roads being rehabilitated, and with the help of the government, we have seen improvement in service delivery as well,” chairperson for young women for ED Harare, Cde Rufaro Matsika said.

“We agree, and we do support the Bulawayo Kraal irrigation and the Hwange Power station. These are clear indicators that the second republic cares about the city. We support constitutional amendment 3 because we need consistency so that we revive our Bulawayo industry,” chairperson for young women for ED Midlands, Cde Dorcas Masango stated.

“We support President Mnangagwa for his outstanding projects. Mines that were closed in Kwekwe and Zvishavane,” chairperson for Young Women for ED Masvingo, Cde Sharon Marombedza noted.

Committed to capacitate young women for them to realise their full potential, the empowerment group received financial support through the Presidential Empowerment Fund to enhance economic participation from the grassroots level.

“The revolving fund is targeted at promoting economic participation of young women across all provinces, and we assure every young woman will have a chance to be empowered,” spokesperson for young women for ED, Cde Tofara Nyoni added.

The Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill proposes several legal reforms, including extending the President and Parliament’s terms from five to seven years and introducing a parliamentary process for electing the President.
