THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Zvishavane District has launched its Client Service Charter as part of efforts to strengthen community trust, improve accountability, and enhance crime prevention.
The charter was unveiled at Siboza Growth Point in Zvishavane, where police engaged members of the public on service delivery and crime-fighting initiatives.
Police statistics show that 4 180 criminal cases were recorded in the district between January and July this year, representing a slight decline from the 4 579 cases reported during the same period last year.
Community members welcomed the initiative, saying it aligns with the Second Republic’s devolution agenda by bringing public services closer to the people.
“We are happy with this initiative because it tallies well with the Second Republic’s devolution mantra, where service providers are supposed to go to the people with their service. Today, the police have come to us, engaging us and discussing areas where we feel there is need. I’m really grateful for this development and opportunity because I have learnt a lot,” said a community member.
The Client Service Charter sets out the minimum service standards expected of police officers in their daily interactions with the public.
ZRP Zvishavane District Officer Commanding, Chief Superintendent Enoch Chishiri, said the initiative is in line with the organisation’s Strategic Plan Moonshot 2030 and the country’s Vision 2030 aspirations.
“In line with the Zimbabwe Republic Police Strategic Plan Moonshot 2030 and the national aspirations of Vision 2030, the ZRP has made deliberate efforts to embrace training so that it is in tandem with the trajectory of national development. Central to this effort is innovation by all rank and file,” said Chief Superintendent Chishiri.
The charter is anchored on four key pillars: response to calls and public interaction, crime management, traffic management, and community assistance.
