PRIVATE players in the health sector have been hailed for complementing government efforts in energising the country’s health services.

The Minister of Defence, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri commended the efforts by the private health institutions while addressing guests at the Well Woman Clinic’s 25th celebrations in Harare this Friday, which are in sync with the Second Republic’s thrust of rebuilding, modernising and rejuvenating the country’s health services.

The Minister said, “Just 25 years ago the Well Woman Clinic was launched and I was there as the guest of honour. Today they are celebrating their 25th anniversary and I’m here again as the guest of honour. This place provides quality health services. We are proud of what these women have achieved over the years. The modernisation is in line with the Second Republic’s initiatives.”

“The clinic is very important because women want a friendly environment with female doctors around. They also provide counselling services, which means one receives both physical and psychological healing, therefore one leaves this place well-nourished. They also operate using state of the art equipment which means quality services. Health issues which we seldom discuss as women, are tackled here in privacy,” she added.

“As we celebrate 25 years of an institution that was not intimidated by stepping into uncharted waters and continues to reach out to spread the gospel of women’s wellbeing, I urge the Well Woman Clinic to continue creating an environment that is not afraid to recognise the wellness needs of society, so that tomorrow can hold a brighter future not only for women but for the men and children who rely upon them,” said Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri.

Well Woman Clinic Director, Dr Nancy Jonker said their facility aims to provide top-quality health services to all women.

“We aim to provide health services to all women. If women are healthy, their families become healthy too which translates to a healthy and stronger nation,” Dr Nancy said.

The Well Woman Clinic was established in 1998 to provide quality services and empower women to maximise their personal wellbeing through screening, preventative health care and education.
