UN Women delegation meets President Mnangagwa to strengthen gender equality efforts

A high-level delegation from the United Nation(UN) Women is currently meeting President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House as part of its visit to Zimbabwe aimed at assessing how the UN Women and the broader United Nations system can support national development priorities, particularly in the areas of gender equality and women’s economic empowerment.

Earlier, the delegation met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Professor Amon Murwira where discussions focused on UN programming in Zimbabwe, joint programming between the UN and government along with the UN Women’s role in the UN Gender Theme Group, the Resident Coordinating System and UN Reforms.

The year 2025 marks 80 years since the United Nations Charter was signed on June 26, 1945 with the UN Women pushing for an equal opportunity platform under the theme; ‘For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.”
