THE issuance of title deeds to thousands of beneficiaries of the Land Reform Programme is gathering pace, with over US$1 million having been paid by farmers since the launch of the programme.
The move by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to issue title deeds to thousands of beneficiaries of the Land Reform Programme is fast turning into reality, and farmers who applied and paid for the title deeds are on cloud nine after being issued with the documents within three days of payment.
Under the programme, A2 farmers are required to pay US$800 to the Survey General for their farms to be surveyed, while A1 farmers will pay US$300 for the same process.
“I am now a proud owner of a farm and my family is rest assured of security of tenure. I want to thank President Mnangagwa for giving us these deeds which our kith and kin can benefit from,” Mrs Yeukai Chifamba of Somerby Farm in Zvimba said.
Giving an update on the title deeds programme, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development Professor Obert Jiri revealed the process is gaining traction, with a target to issue 2 500 deeds by the end of this month on course.
“Over 700 farmers are having their title deeds processed. We have over US$1 million received from the process. I urge all farmers to approach our one-stop centre at Makombe building in Harare and provincial offices to submit their applications, the good part of it is within three days a farmer who pays cash will have his title deed issued,” he said.
