RESIDENTS of Siakobvu in Nyaminyami District, Mashonaland West, are optimistic as construction of a new Government Complex nears completion, a development expected to significantly improve access to essential public services in the remote community.
For years, Siakobvu has faced challenges in accessing identity documents, healthcare and social welfare support, among other key services. The facility under construction is seen as a lifeline that will bring government departments under one roof.
Local residents say the progress has revived expectations for improved livelihoods.
“We have great hope that when this construction is complete, we will receive services closer to home without travelling long distances,” local resident, Darlington Sandukira said.
“As a parent, I always struggled because when a child fell ill or needed documents, we had to travel far and spend money we did not have. Now that the building is almost complete, it means help is finally close. It gives me peace of mind knowing our families will soon get services right here at home,” another resident, Edith Mumutora said.
“The near completion of this complex has brought new energy to Siakobvu. We expect job opportunities, government engagements, and growth in local business. Our dream of seeing Siakobvu become a vibrant service centre is starting to feel real,” Sihona Dhuvai said.
Meanwhile, Nyaminyami Rural District Council has since allocated at least 300 residential stands for government employees, while the Siakobvu Growth Point has been tarred.
“The tarring of the growth point is part of our broader strategy to modernise Siakobvu and attract investment. The tarring is courtesy of the ERRP 2. The Government Complex complements our vision of transforming this area into a functioning administrative and commercial centre,” Nyaminyami Rural District Council, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr Peter Chinodakufa said.
Siakobvu Government Complex is one of the flagship projects being implemented by the Second Republic under the inclusive development agenda.
